By 2050, Kazakhstan will increase the share of alternative energy sources to 50 percent. The share of alternative renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan in 2030 will be 30 percent, and in 2050 - 50 percent, the correspondent of Tengrinews.kz reports with reference to the Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov.

"The head of state signed the concept of a green economy, which lays the groundwork for reforming such sectors as energy generation, water sector, agriculture, waste-processing sector, as well as measures for energy efficiency, reduction of emissions into the atmosphere.We are aiming to achieve a share of alternative renewable sources of energy in the amount of 30 percent in 2030 and 50 percent in 2050, "Kapparov said at a briefing in the service of the central communications under the President.

The concept of the "green" economy is calculated until 2050 and structured in such a way as to complement the goals and objectives of the national strategy-2050. The concept raises the issue of efficient use of natural resources, enhancing the welfare of citizens of Kazakhstan, creating new jobs, as well as improving the conditions for citizens and increasing the life expectancy of the population, the minister said. "That is, by 2030, our energy supply in case of a high internal price for natural gas will include 11 percent of wind and solar sources, 8 percent of nuclear, 10 percent of hydro sources, 21 percent of gas and 49 percent of coal-fired generation." By 2050, and solar sources will increase to 39 percent, the share of nuclear power plants and hydropower plants will be 14 percent, stations on gas will make up 16 percent, the remaining 31 percent will come from new generation coal plants based on clean coal technologies, "the minister said.

In the case of low gas prices, he said, Kazakhstan's energy corporation will include 11 percent of wind and solar installations in 2030, 8 percent of atomic, 10 percent of hydro, 26 percent of gas and 44 percent of coal-fired generation. Accordingly, by 2050 the share of wind and solar installations will be 40 percent, the share of nuclear power plants and hydropower plants will be 14 percent, the share of gas will increase to 32 percent, the share of coal will drop to 14 percent, he said.
